As I sit and meditate this early evening, I can’t help but marvel at the peace I am feeling. I went for a swim earlier and despite the hot day here in Texas, I was glad to be alive and dancing with the dolphins. As I swam and rested between laps, a gentleman on the other lane wanted to talk and talk and talk…I was cordial sure; but I made it clear that I wanted to swim…(smiling of course). As I finished, he asked for my name and we talked about family background briefly and smiling, he relates how he had known one of my cousins who was a prominent attorney in Mexico. Wow! He spoke highly of him and even told me that his wife was a writer. “Hmmmmm,” I thought.
Now I am home and my sister just texted that someone from her church had given her an Easter Lilly. She was emotional because the last time she received one was from her husband Mark who recently passed. Sure, she was sad and then she noted that there are no coincidences in life. Agree? I do. You see, if there are coincidences, then you and I are one. And today, being “Good Friday” would also be one. Wouldn’t it?
What is “Good Friday” you might ask. It is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ at Calvary, the divine mercy and the redemption of Christians. It is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday, and may coincide with the Jewish observance of Passover.
It is a day of remembrance and even though I am not a religious person, nor do I adhere to specific rituals perse; at this moment I am paying my respects and thanking my God for sending His only begotten son to die on that cross for all of my sins. You see, I love and have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savoir and I feel compelled to share this with you:
If you have never accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, this is the day that he has made and all you have to do is accept him. You don’t need to go to a church or have a pastor or a priest lead you to Him. Simply meditate on scripture as Acts 2:38 which states, “But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved,” or John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life! Jesus answered. “Without me, no one can go to the Father.”
Or do your own studying of scripture. It’s about your own personal relationship with Him! I encourage you today and I can say without any hesitation, that you will feel a peace like no other. You will feel as if the worries of the world have already been vanished from you forever. You will walk lighter, feel better, be more loving and caring, and above all, HE will be smiling because all of the honor and glory belong to him and He was waiting on you. This is not to say that you will not have any more tribulations; but this does mean that once you accept him, HE will guide you along the way. (Proverbs 3:5-6). Go ahead and read it for yourself. Become familiar with the many beautiful promises in the Bible. I promise you, it will be life changing! Meditate on it and do share your experiences with me and our other readers.
Have a peaceful evening!
Matthew L Atter
Beautiful reflection of Good Friday. It’s the time to remember the ultimate sacrifice of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ death on The Cross for all of us. Death cannot keep Him (Jesus Christ) in the ground because HE conquered death and He is risen.
