In my practice, it appears that anxiety has quickly overtaken depression as the number one reason people seek therapy. Sure, both conditions (which are highly treatable) are linked, yet the 2020 pandemic was the biggest culprit, in my opinion. The current political climate, technology, and social dilemma certainly don’t help either. I offer you the following technique (which I use daily) to ease some of this anxiety that will creep up from time to time.
Remember, emotions come and go. Think of them as clouds in the sky or leaves on a stream. They don’t always remain, do they?
The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers. M. Scott Peck
