People not familiar with the beauty of the Bible have no idea that between the words of promises and prophecies, instructions for life, parables, and historical stories there are also glimmers of romantic passion, such as in the Song of Solomon.

Enjoy this excerpt from my first novel Angels I’ve Met Along the Way:

Sarah opens her Bible and begins to read one of her favorite books, which is the surprisingly romantic Song of Solomon. Feeling somewhat lonely, she reads longingly from chapter 3:1-4:

“By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways, I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth?

It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of hers that conceived me.”

Do not fret if today you are not with that special Valentine.  Remember that a full reading of Song of Songs indicates it is a book of wisdom intent on portraying an idyllic relationship between a man and a woman, full of love that both celebrate each other and celebrates the pleasurable gifts given to us by God.

Enjoy the following poem I wrote many years ago for an amazing soul that to this day remains.

“Soulmates”

Two souls intertwine searching for the mosaic that is life. Allowing for the pain to subside through the window.

Not dictating… yet searching for a togetherness not too many find.

Not controlling… yet following the yellow brick road. Not binding… yet slowly weaving a love of self and them. Not blurry… yet clear as the morning sky amid the sunrise…

Soulmates…

Mates merely a soul beat away… Mates bound by destiny and a kindred soul…
